Human Commensal Microbiota refers to the microbial flora naturally living in human body and the total collection of all of their genes is called Human Microbiome. The commensal flora and their gene products plays a critical role in maintaining our Health & Longevity The term “normal microbial flora” denotes the population of microorganisms that inhabit various body parts like skin and mucous membranes of healthy normal persons. Our skin and mucous membranes always harbor a variety of microorganisms that can be categorized into two groups: Normal microflora can also be called indigenous microbial population, microflora, normal microbial flora or microbial flora. They are the group of beneficial microorganisms which are normally associated with a particular part, structure or tissue of the human or animal body; and they contribute immensely to the general good health of humans The normal flora of humans consists of a few eucaryotic fungi and protists, but bacteria are the most numerous and obvious microbial components of the normal flora. Figure 1.

The commensal flora and their gene products plays a critical role in maintaining our Health & Longevity Microbioma, which is often used as a synonym for microbiota, refers, in a broader sense, to the biological unit made up of the microbiota and the host environment in which it is housed, its habitat. To the genome of this community, it is called metagenome. Normal Microbial Flora • It denotes the population of micro-organisms that inhabit the skin and mucus membrane of healthy normal person. • It is the term used to describe the various microorganisms that are permanent residents of certain body sites.

In microbiology, collective bacteria and other microorganisms in a host are known as flora. Although microflora is commonly used, the term microbiota is becoming more common as microflora is a misnomer. Flora pertains to the Kingdom Plantae. Microbiota with animal-like characteristics are classed as microfauna. Microbial flora of the stomach and gastrointestinal tract The stomach and gastrointestinal tract are not sterile and are colonized by microorganisms that perform functions beneficial to the host, including the manufacture of essential vitamins, and the prevention of colonization by undesirable microbes.

Our environment contains a huge number of microorganisms, whenever we exposed to the environment our body surface gets in contact with those microorganisms, and they are started to colonize in our body surface. Gut microbial flora, prebiotics, and probiotics in IBD: their current usage and utility
Microbiota are "ecological communities of commensal, symbiotic and pathogenic microorganisms" found in and on all multicellular organisms studied to date from plants to animals. Microbiota includes bacteria, archaea, protists, fungi and viruses.
